Week 49 (89): Up, down and all around

The title essentially describes Antonio's abilities in moving around!

At the end of this week he is able to stand up tall on his own; sit back down on his own; get down from the bed by crawling backwards, belly down until his feet reaches the ground; crawl speedily around the room or 'walk' around with support from side tables, the bed, and the wall.

While he is capable of balancing and taking a couple of steps on his own, Antonio wants to get from point A to B fast. So after two to three steps, you will find him shooting off on all fours. Cute.

During the week, he also discovered one of Roberto's Nintendo Wii handset. As this one is shaped like a telephone receiver, he immediately brought it to his year, with one end placed behind his ear. For sure he was immitating the adults talking on their handphones!

The little one has also perfected the art of taking things apart. Remember those colourful foam mats covering half the floor of his room? Some of them have alphabets on them. Antonio has learned how to remove the letters by prising themm out with his fingers. He began with the letter O about a month ago, and this week he succeeded in pulling out letter A. Wonder what letters will come out by next week?

Next, music and noise. Both of which he loves!

Since receiving his first home-made maracas a couple of weeks ago, he now possesses another bottle filled with cloves. The two bottles are the same, but the contents are different so that Antonio is exposed to different sounds.

Then when he hears music, whether it is children's tunes or upbeat melodies, he likes to bop along, or he will stomp along if I am helping him to stand up. Some times, he will also fall asleep while listening to classical music.

So much growing done, and more to do! Stay tuned for the review of our son's first birthday party, coming at you in three weeks' time!
